Seniors on The Hill

The Seniors on The Hill is our Senior Adult connect group at SMBC. Our senior adults at SMBC love to praise the name of Jesus, study God’s Holy Word, be a support for many of our programs at SMBC, work in missions and ministries, and they are some of the most impressive prayer warriors you’ll ever meet. There’s also no shortage of socializing, eating good food, listening to good music, and enjoying each other’s company with the Seniors on The Hill!

The Seniors on The Hill have special luncheons each month where great meals are served and there is plenty of entertainment or a Bible devotional. These seniors get together to study God’s Word; travel to pick apples; sight-see; go to Southern Gospel concerts; travel down to the Coast; hang out at the lake. They love to have fun, but most importantly, they love to have fun in Christ. If you’re 56+ years old and want to spend time with a wonderful group of Christian Believers who are also some of the sweetest people on earth, this is the group for you!

We value senior adults, their experiences, their advice, their knowledge, and their guidance. The Bible says in Proverbs 20:29 that “the beauty of old men is the gray head.”  Senior Believers are invaluable resources, mentors, sources of guidance and strength, and such great help with many diversified areas of work within the Church. Their beauty can be seen throughout every aspect of SMBC, from years of foundation work to current and active work in ministries and missions, discipleship and evangelism, prayer and teaching, worship, and praise. We are blessed, at SMBC, to have so many incredible senior adults by our side, and we thank the Lord for their beauty.

Many of our Seniors on The Hill have suffered the loss of a spouse, live alone, are on a fixed income, suffer from health issues, and many are shut-ins, while others are caring for aging parents or supporting grandchildren. This is a very diversified group with so many varied life experiences, but all of that experience and the knowledge gained through their lives can be used as illustrations to reveal God’s truth, His handiwork, His guidance, and His miracles — What amazing testimonies! We thank God for the lives of our Seniors on The Hill!
