Welcome to Sisk Memorial Baptist Church!

We are a Church that does not believe in sitting still. After 75+ years on this hill in Fort Mill, SMBC still has a deep love for our town, for our community, and we're very passionate about it. We believe in following Jesus Christ's example that He set to love everyone. And we desire to do just that: to take His love, His gospel, His good news of salvation and saving grace out to our community and the world. We can't sit still when we know what the Bible teaches and what we've personally experienced in having relationships with Jesus Christ! It is truly "good news," and we would love to tell you about it. Do you know that Jesus loves you? Join us, and we can tell you all about what an amazing, loving, and saving God He truly is.

Within our Church family, we are active from our children and youth groups all the way up through our senior adults. From our “Little Lights” (Newborns through Pre-K), to “Grace Kids” (Kindergarten through 6th), to “Impact Youth” (7th graders through 12th graders), to “Above Rubies” (women 19-60), “Brothers in Christ” (men 19-60), up to our Golden Agers (seniors 60-160): we have something for every person. We love God, and we love people. After all, the greatest example to follow is the one that Jesus set: to love everyone. And we enjoy doing just that.

Why We Do What We Do

John 3:16 in the Bible tells us "For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life." God loved all of humanity so greatly that He allowed His Son to be the ultimate sacrifice for our sins. And it's because of this incredible love, grace, and sacrifice, for us, that we have the desire to share that with anyone and everyone. Jesus said that we are to love our neighbor as ourselves. So because of that want and need to follow his example of loving everyone and His command to, "Go ye, therefore, and preach to all nations....", that's why we do what we do. And that true passion is evident in everything we do at SMBC.

The Bible says that God knows the number of stars in the sky, and He knows the number of hairs on your head. He watches over the tiniest of creatures He created, like the little ants on the ground, yet He is so ultimately powerful that He can calm the oceans with His voice. He is the Creator of all, and He is forever in control. He loves us so much, that He gave His son as payment for our sins, in order to take our place. And He never leaves us alone, in good times and bad; even when we don't understand what He has in store for us, we still know that His loving arms are always there to comfort us in times of trouble. Knowing what a kind and merciful God He is, how could we ever keep it a secret? That's why we do what we do.

Second Baptist Church, Fort Mill

Our History

Our humble beginnings date back to 1944, when our Church was organized with a specific focus on the growing population of textile mill workers in our town. We began as the Second Baptist Church of Fort Mill. But after the death of a beloved pastor in 1958, Rev. JT Sisk, our name was changed to Sisk Memorial Baptist.

Our Faith

The Bible says that God knows the number of stars in the sky, and He knows the number of hairs on your head. He watches over the tiniest of creatures He created, like the little ants on the ground, yet He is so ultimately powerful that He can calm the oceans with His voice. He is the Creator of all, and He is forever in control. He loves us so much that He gave His Son as payment for our sins, in order to take our place. And He never leaves us alone, in good times and bad — even when we don't understand what He has in store for us, we still know that His loving arms are always there to comfort us in times of trouble.
